The painting is painted in soft pastels of a woman who lived with her child in a shelter in Atlanta. She volunteered to participate
in a project called SEE Me, to present the value, charm and loveliness of each of 10-15 women in that shelter who volunteered
to play "dress-up" while 3 women spent 2-3 hours with each volunteer, photographing, sketching and video-ing the entire
process. I painted The Red Queen in the past month and was inspired by the theme of this show to recognize that they are the
Queens of Solomon's Temple, which is the name of the shelter where they lived when the project began. What an exciting experience
it has been for me as a woman and an artist who now knows how transformational that experience was and is for each woman and for me.
