This painting named "Lang" is a combination of pastel pencils and hard to semi hard pastels. The flesh tones were achieved by a soft layering process of various colors of pastel pencils. When I met this person, I knew I had to do his portrait mainly because of his fantastic beard which I thought to be challenging. He had such a relaxed style which I loved about him.
