The inspiration for this painting is one of our rescues. Her name is Noelle, but her nickname is 'mouse' due to her small size. One of her favorite things is relaxing on her favorite chair on a warm, sunny day. A drawing was done lightly in charcoal on Canson Mi-Tientes buff colored paper. Pastel pencils were used sparingly and I jumped right to my Unison pastels and blocked in shapes. This is a pretty new technique for me since I would really work for quite a while with pencils at the beginning of a drawing or painting. Now I've flipped everything and work with softer pastels from the get-go and blend and define with pencils.
