Vast western landscapes like this are my favorite subject to paint. This scene is not any particular area, but one could imagine it to be Yellowstone National Park. I chose a sienna sheet of Winsor & Newton pastel paper for this piece, as it adds to the impressionistic feel. I used my dad’s 30+ year-old set of Rembrandt pastels for the majority of this painting.
