My father, a self-employed dentist, was worn out by the time his 5th child, John, was born. I remember my mother pleading with my father, "Can you just take John to the ballgame?" Alas, my father never found the time to spend with John. My father drowned when he was 53 y.o, and John was 19 y.o. This winter, I saw a man and his young child sledding. I wondered what John's life would've been like if my father had time for him, and I would imagine, if my father's father had time for him when he was a child.
