I arranged the pears on the open pages of a book of colorful illustrations. I positioned the arrangement in front of a sunlit window with the light coming from behind and slightly above the pears to create the long shadows. The challenge was to create slightly translucent shadows allowing the colors in the book pages to show through. Watercolor underpainting with various hard and soft pastels on Lux Archival.
