The Lemmon Farm was started and finished as a Plein air painting. I was intrigued by the reflected light inside the shadow of the barn opening. Old barns inspire me because they give clues to current daily life and contain historical references to how life was once lived. Their construction is a legacy of simplicity and the beauty of hand craftmanship. I wanted to portray these ideas and capture the warmth of the late afternoon sun.
