I created this today, in Bryant Park New York City. The light and shadows were so inspiring! I first applied the darks using gouache paints, an an underpainting to lay out the tones. Then, I used a variety of pastels (Mount Vision, Rembrandt, and Sennelier. I worked back and forth, applying gouache to enhance shadows, and working in the pastels to acheive the effect of light on the grassy area and background. I used a half sheet of Art Spectrum ColorFix pastel paper.
